The OLD MAN CLEMINS friendships started in Mammoth Lakes, Ca. around 1993 when Corey Lawrence and Darin Mitchell first met. They began playing in a punk rock band with Cory on guitar and Darin on vocals. The two played with many different musicians and as their musical interests grew and expanded, so did their musical intention. They formed POVERTY WITH A VEIW, which turned into a jam/cover band with 4 other members. Around that time John Landini moved to town and became friends with Corey and Darin. They jammed a few times but mostly were just friends that snowboarded and partied together. John had played bass in a hard rock band in L.A. and played guitar with a drummer he met in Mammoth. After years of friendship everybody eventually parted ways but always kept in touch. Corey went to Idaho to go to cooking school, and John went to Utah and started to pursue a film degree. Darin learned to blow glass and found a distributor in Humboldt County that would buy his work. The phone began to ring and after all was said and done Darin, Corey and John along with the drummer from POVERTY made the journey together. After getting situated in Humboldt, the four began jamming together and writing songs. Things were going good until the drummer decided that life was better for him in Mammoth and went home. Corey and John began the glass trade and the three continued to write songs acoustically until that faithful day when Darin couldn�t take it anymore and bought a drum kit. In the spring of 2001 the kitchen became the jam room of OLD MAN CLEMINS.
