Jennifer Savage, Savage Eye: Collars, leashes, balls Sexy Hair Records - I like the sound of that. I also quite like the sound of The Collars, SHR's raison d'etre. Mike Conway and Dylan Johnson started SHR as a way to distribute the music of their band - The aforementioned Collars (www.thecollars.com). They describe their sound as "a unique blend of acoustic folk and dance beats," an accurate summation of their first release, Room 5. The album is both casual and poppy. But wait, there's more: a darker tone permeates "A Vision Floods My Head"; a bittersweet melody weaves around "Drunken Remission"; "Hey, Hey" has an irresistible groove that makes me want to dance around my living room in pajamas. In fact, I want to invite all my best girlfriends over for a slumber party with lots of red wine, plenty of shades of bright toenail polish - and Room 5. That's how much fun it is.
