Message from Russ (the producer of 'The Acoustic Comp'): "I started this compilation with a 'punk goes acoustic' mentality, but I wanted to include some emo, indie, and whatever else I thought fit the style of the local scene. I recorded all of the music at my home studio in Humboldt because it was the only way to guarantee that the material on the cd would be unique, new, and having an element of spontinaity. I even made the one non-local artist drive all the way from San Francisco to record here.
"The instructions I gave to the bands as we recorded was to just play, not to worry about making it perfect or anything, just to play the songs with a good vibe. You can seriously FEEL the difference between these songs and the overproduced jingles on TV and Radio. There are tons of mistakes on this comp., and that is what I like best about it.
"It has been a ton of fun having some of my favorite local bands come over to my house and do acoustic renditions of some of their newest material. It's amazing how great this has turned out, the local bands have really been into this whole idea and I just wanna thank them for making this possible."
