Music Styles -

Folk, Country, and Bluegrass, with a little Rock, Blues, Swing and Modern Jazz thrown in for good measure.  Howard is primarily a guitar player, but also enjoys playing mandolin and bass.

Background, Experience, and Other Information -

Howard survived the British invasion during his high school years by playing rhythym guitar in a surf band. After a brief acoustic period during college, Howard put the guitar away for many years.

In the 1990's, Howard started playing bass, and was the original bass player for the country band High Prairie.

Howard's solo acoustic/vocal gigs have included playing pre-show music for Redwood Area Theatresports improvisational theater shows, in addition to playing guitar and keyboard accompaniment for their shows on many occasions.

In 2002, Howard bought a mandolin and formed the group Humboldt Country Blue, which has played "country music with a bluegrass feel" at a number of events.  In 2005, Howard joined forces with Kristin Anderson to form the group Cedarhill, which has performed live music for children at many venues.

Lyrics, etc. for Airport Airport(©1994 Howard Lang)  Howard Lang

This is a song I wrote back in 1994. Although I have played it live many times since then, I never got around to recording it until recently. The song depicts the plight of a homeowner who has built a house next to the local airport. Although the land was cheap due to its location, the poor fellow forgets this, and complains about the noise of the jets taking off and landing each day.
