Jazz Sax Dot Com The intent of Jazz-Sax is to be a cooler place to discuss ideas. Most all those other web discussion boards are lame. No style. I'm not going mention any URLs, but you've seen them. This is based on the geek site Slashdot.org where spirited discussions happen daily. So, if your reading this, post something. Comment about something you saw, question about a playing issue, etc. Website

Patterns and Solo Transcriptions I've been transcribing a lot lately. I usually only get solos on tunes that I actually play. These are all my personal transcriptions so there's not a lot of performance markings (articulation, dynamics). Website

Saxophone Transcriptions Transcribing is one of the crucial aspects of learning to improvise. At Indiana University, David Baker taught a course called Styles and Analysis. That was the beginning of this path...150+ solos later. It is important that you do the following with a transcription: Website

 | Alternate fingerings for the SaxophoneWebsite
|
 | Altissimo Fingering Chart This fingering chart represents my preferred fingerings for altissimo notes above third-line F above the staff. The first fingering shown (left to right) is my 'first' choice fingering; however, the others may prove more efficient or responsive based on a particular passage or reed strength. Experiment. Practice this register daily in conjunction with your overtone/voicing exercises. Gradually, integrate these fingerings into your scales and rudiments as outlined in your Levels and Jury requirements. The altissimo register is no longer an option, it is a necessity for the aspiring saxophonist. Good Luck!! -T.M. Website

Instruments Saxquest is a professional saxophone shop specializing in vintage and professional model saxophones. We're a family-run business with over 15 years of combined experience dealing in saxophones. Through the years we've seen many great saxophones pass through our hands. Take a tour of the Saxquest gallery to see just a few of the most interesting and rare saxes we've handled. We've been buying, selling and trading saxophones online since the inception of the Internet, simply by taking advantage of online classified ads, word of mouth and eBay (here's our eBay feedback profile). We've always been amazed at how many online music instrument dealers are openly deceptive and use misleading advertising. Here at Saxquest, we go out of our way to ensure that you are an informed consumer and are treated fairly and professionally. In July of 2000 we decided that the time was right to launch our own web site, Saxquest.com. Website
