| Coastal Roots Relief Benefit: Roots Show for Katrina Relief Coastal Healing is putting on an all ages benefit show on September 24th and 25th at the Arcata D Street Neighborhood Center on 14th and D Street. Doors open at 2:00 pm on Saturday, 11:30 am on Sunday. The event includes music, dance, Ital Southern food and a raffle. Tickets are $20 for per day or $30 for both, children 12 and under are free. First 50 people get a free raffle ticket. All proceeds will go to grassroots organizations aiding in the relief of survivors of Hurricane Katrina. This event is sponosored by Coastal Healing, Placebo, Ink People, Proper Productions, Fiyah Roots Productions and WordSoundPower. Coastal Healing is a group of Humboldt County citizens responding to the cry of the displaced people of New Orleans from Hurricane Katrina. Some of our members have called New Orleans thier home or have strong ties, family or otherwise to the area. Also as a Coastal Community we feel a kindred call to support another Coastal Community in need. We are raising funds as well as goods to help the poorer population of displaced peoples in the New Orleans area. We will be donating funds raised to grassroots non profits with simmilar missions to ours. The line up for the benefit includes: Bambu Station with Talkin' Roots II Tour; Pressure, Black Culture, Lady Passion, Ras Bumpa, Ijah Menelik, Child; Jah Levi and The Higher Reasoning, Rocker-T, KinDreaD, Harrison Stafford of Groundation, Batch with Ras Attitude, Freesound from Hawaii, Haznebakuk with Selah & The Fyah Roots Crew, The New Lemurians, Jimmy Jeff and the Gypsy Band, Vidagua, Tofu and Chitlins, WoMamma, MaDi, Elk Thunder Drum, DJs Proseed, Truth1, Mass Spect & KNUTZ. | |
