Hello...This is just another reminder...I've already received loads of feedback (thanks to everyone!).
But here's the lowdown again:
I'm a filmmaker (I used to live in Arcata), and I will be up
there in early June shooting a documentary called "Rural Rock and Roll," which will focus on a few bands in Humboldt and on the entire scene, as a whole; so I will want to interview as many people as possible, including non-musicians or people on the periphery of the scene--promoters, bartendars, sound men, or just plain hardcore fans of local music (particularly on june 11 and 12, saturday and sunday).
if you know any intriguing characters who have an interesting story to tell about the local rock music in the good ol' eureka/arcata area, please let me know. i will check this message board periodically, or you may email me any feedback directly to jensenfilms@adelphia.net.
thanks much for any help. see y'all soon...

Sounds like a short film.
Darin from OMC. B. Swizlo, Tie Dye Steve, Gary Lott from rumours, Eldin from this site, some people from wildwood music, Ruben Diaz, Dale Cash, Ken Lawrence.
There are more I am forgetting.

please don't forget to involve all types of music if you want a real representation of Humboldt County. Two band I would recommend are The Crooks, and The Dean. Both bands contain all born and raised Humboldt musicians. The Crooks are one of the best punk bands still in the area and The Dean are kick ass rockers who mix punk with rock and roll. The artists mentioned in peacemakers post are all great too but please don't forget that not everyone in humboldt is a hippy.

yes, good idea to do a tribute movie, and you should focus on not only the name brand bands but the struggling, maybe not such hot players who do have volume and fans. Word of warning, altho theDean is kickaxe combo, they do often cuss during the songs so mebbe not your fave.

ya/yo/cheers hey jensen! the more i drink about it , you should make a movie about those passionate yet sh$tty players who have massive amps yet seem to lack people to practice with (more than once or twice). Its a real sisyphus epic if you think of it, and pretty funny to, like your orick movie. It will be boring if you have qualilty bands and music. Your movie will kick axe if you get some salt of the earth horrible players who have like 550 watts in terio. Profile those guys and your movie will smoke at sundance. see email above

Note to Gogord: I'm more offended by douche bags who can't spell that encourage censorship than by words like "fuck" or "bitch".
BTW, no movie about Humboldt County music would be complete without bongo players.
